On December 1, 2015, following a Social Work Continuing Education class entitled Positive Psychology for Clinical Practice, I began my daily practice of gratitude. Each and every morning I call to mind one thing for which I have gratitude. It can be as simple as I am grateful for my eyes as I read a book last night. It can be as thoughtful as I am grateful for the time I spent with my children yesterday when we did …..
I had NO IDEA how powerful this simple morning exercise would be and how my lense through which I see life would be positively altered.
If I could share one piece of advice with all of the children and adolescents I work with, it would be to add the practice of daily gratitude to your life. Journaling (written) of just mindfulness (conscious thoughts), add gratitude as you become the best version of you.
I love this book and have implemented the practice of gratitude in the elementary school where I work via this powerful tool: A Simple Seed: of Growth, Gratitude & Giggles: 5-minute morning journal for kids.
